Enrichment 2025
Please see details of our Enrichment course for 2025~2026.
Enrichment takes place on Wednesday lesson 5 and 6.
We ask students to let us know their three top choices. To confirm these, please complete this form.
The students will be told what enrichment they will be doing when they return in September.
Some enrichment is only open to specific year groups. If this is the case, it will tell you the details.
PERFORMING ARTS
In Performing Arts Enrichment we will be acting, dancing and singing with an aim to create a performance for an audience. This could be based on a play, musical or film. We will work closely together as a group so it is perfect if you like working as a team. You will all bring certain skills and strengths in performance which we will recognise and showcase. This will lead to achieving an Arts Award at the Discover level.
COOKING
ASDAN Activities Award
ASDAN Activities Award enrichment is focusing on activities to develop skills and knowledge through cooking and food preparation. This course helps learners develop practical cooking skills, as well as personal, social & communication skills. Learners will become independent in the kitchen, learning a life skill that will develop time management and give them a sense of accomplishment each week. Over the course of the year, learners will make different seasonal dishes & create an enrichment diary with all their recipes alongside photographic evidence of their creations.
OUTDOOR LEARNING
- Seasonal outdoor activities similar to Forest school
- Craft activities using natural materials ie: wreath making, stone painting, clay faces, bark rubbing, flower pressing.
- Campfire safety and building. Cooking on a campfire.
- Creating our own games, either crafted or circle time games.
- Learning about our environment and how to look after it.
- Tree and plant recognition.
- Visits to a local Alpaca farm to learn about animal husbandry and experience animal care first hand.
This Enrichment involves being outdoors in all weathers and getting your wellies muddy and your hands dirty. We will also be learning how to light and manage a fire safely in the school woodland area - so a change of clothes would be appropriate.
HORTICULTURE
Welcome to Horticulture (a fancy word for learning how to grow and care for plants and gardening); our school’s very own horticultural club where young gardeners grow their knowledge, creativity, and love for nature—right here at Corley!
Open to Key-stage 3 and 4, Horticulture offers hands-on gardening experiences that support science learning, environmental awareness, and healthy living. Whether it's planting vegetables in raised beds, learning about composting, or taking care of ever-expanding Corley Orchard, we’ll explore the amazing world of plants.
EKFB GREEN PROJECT
Students will work with sponsors and Corley staff to create a Sensory Garden within the Corley grounds.
DUKE OF EDINBURGH
FOR STUDENTS WHO WILL BE IN YEARS 9, 10 and 11
Students are working towards completing their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award during their Enrichment lessons over the next two academic years.
The Bronze Award comprises four sections: Physical, Volunteering, Skill and Expedition.
The Physical, Volunteering and Skill sections of the Award will be completed before completing the Expedition section in the summer term.
Students will help to plan routes that they will walk during their qualifying expedition, which will be carried out locally.
Each section will be signed off by an assessor who will write a brief report to summarise their activities. Students are supported in gathering evidence for each section as they work through them.
Students in our Life Skills classes for this year do Duke of Edinburgh as part of their curriculum offer.
STEM ON TRACK
STEM on Track is an exciting, hands-on course that challenges students to work collaboratively as a team to build, test, and race a fully functioning go-kart. Combining creativity, engineering, and competitive spirit, this course integrates practical skills with core STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths) concepts, all through the thrilling lens of motorsport.
Throughout the course, students will:
- Build a Go-Kart: Collaborate to construct a go-kart from the ground up, applying real-world STEM principles in a practical setting.
- Learn STEM Through Motorsport: Explore topics such as forces, motion, energy, design, materials, and mechanics, with tailored lessons that connect classroom theory to the real-world challenges of kart building.
- Design Custom Stickers: Express creativity and team identity by designing custom graphics and stickers for the team kart.
- Work Towards a CREST Bronze Award: Complete a CREST Award booklet to gain Bronze-level accreditation, recognising project-based STEM achievement.
- Earn Points as a Team: Each lesson and activity completed contributes to the team's overall score, encouraging full participation, collaboration, and accountability.
- Drive and Race: All students will get the chance to drive the kart during testing. However, only four drivers per team will be selected for the final race event—so teamwork, commitment, and contribution will be key to earning a racing spot.
This course is built on the foundation of teamwork, problem-solving, and innovation. To succeed, students must actively participate, support each other, and embrace every aspect of the journey—from concept to checkered flag.
We would also like to say Thank You to Stallantis for their continued support with this project.
Please note that priority will be given to students who have not completed this enrichment previously.
