Corley Academy is a special secondary school for children with complex communication and interaction difficulties. A significant number of students have an autism diagnosis.  Students bring a range of abilities and aspirations, special educational needs, vulnerabilities, challenges and behaviours.  Student attainment covers the full National Curriculum and GCSE/vocational range.

Safeguarding

Commitment to the safeguarding of children and young people

The post for which you are applying gives substantial access to children. Thrive Education Partnership is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and all staff working with children and young people are expected to share a commitment to this.

You will be expected to report any concerns about the safeguarding of children and/or young people in accordance with the agreed procedures.

Successful applicants will be required, as part of their role, to attend regular safeguarding training relevant to the role.

If your conduct in relation to the safeguarding of children or young people gives cause for concern, the agreed child protection procedures will be followed alongside the MAT’s disciplinary procedure.

  • References will be sought prior to interview and we will ask about your performance and conduct, including any disciplinary action taken and/or allegations/issues relating to children and young people in order that your suitability to work with children/young people can be assessed.  
  • Employment is conditional upon the results of an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (with a barred list check) and Social Media check, which will indicate your suitability to work with children. 
  • Applications for teaching roles will involve a check of the Teaching Council's Prohibition List, to ensure they are not subject to a prohibition order issued by the Secretary of State.
  • Any job offer will be conditional on the satisfactory completion of the necessary pre-employment checks.
  • Only applicants who have been shortlisted will be asked for a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable for the position.

Tips for completing our Application Form

  • When completing your employment history, please ensure that this starts from the date your education ceased and covers the whole period until present day. If there were periods when you were not employed, please include these i.e. raising children, caring for elderly relatives etc.
  • Remember one of your referees MUST be your current employer. Ensure you check the contact details for your referees are correct. References will be requested by email if you are shortlisted for interview. Please let your referees know they will receive an email from us.

TEACHER - Foundation Curriculum and KS3 English (Maternity Cover)Closing date: Tuesday 7th May 2024 - 9am

Full Time, (Temporary - Maternity) commencing 1st September 2024. Main Scale / UPS plus SEN1

The successful candidate will be a highly driven and creative teacher, who will join our current Foundation and English Team and strengthen provision for our Year 7 and KS3 Students. They will work collaboratively with an experienced team of staff to deliver high quality provision, which will begin to close attainment gaps on entry, thereby improving KS4 outcomes.

The post will involve teaching the Core and some foundation subjects to a small class of approximately 10 students and supporting their transition from primary school through high quality mentoring. They will be responsible for delivery of English, Maths, Science, PHSE and humanities to a year 7 class in addition to the Whole school Mentoring Programme and English to a variety of KS3 classes.

This is a key role with Corley Academy as we strive to raise standards of literacy and numeracy and provide an appropriate learning environment within which our students with autism can thrive and reach their true potential.

Successful transition of Year 6 students into the school is key to ensuring that each child's experience of Corley Academy through five years is a positive one. The post holder will work collaboratively with a team of staff; an experienced teaching assistants, English and Maths subject leaders, SENCO and members of the senior leadership team.

We are seeking a highly driven and creative specialist Maths teacher to work alongside our Maths Curriculum Leader to deliver the subject through the school and across the full ability range, ensuring that students maximise their potential, including at GCSE level

The successful candidate will be required to promote a collaborative team approach to develop a dynamic department, where students extend their abilities as a result of high quality staff input. The ability to inspire students across the full range of ability, to engage in Maths, will be an essential requirement. The post will also involve a pastoral role.

The successful applicant for this position will take pride in their own work and be enthusiastic about ensuring that the environment reflects the high academic status of the school. As a business team, we work together to ensure a clean and hygienic environment. We pride ourselves in providing support to our colleagues as needed and ensuring our students have a clean, hygienic and safe environment in which to develop.

You must be flexible, organised and able to work methodically, in a busy environment, where days very often do not go to plan. To be able to develop and maintain appropriate relationships with colleagues and students. Champion a safe and clean environment, leading by example, never walking past a problem and creating a space which encourages students to have a sense of pride in their surroundings.

You will need to show an awareness of Health and Safety and COSHH regulations and a commitment to undertake relevant training and development.

Catering Manager - Deadline Noon 22nd April 2024

The successful applicant for this position will take pride in producing interesting, delicious, healthy meals ensuring that all students’ needs are met with regard to allergens and dietary requirements. Will be considerate of reasonable individual food requests; our student’s sensory issues can sometimes present themselves in needing their food plated in a particular way, or only eating certain foods. Be able to review and cost menus, consistently providing high quality healthy food within a budget and on time.

We would like the manager to work with their colleagues to find ways in which meals can marry with some of the curriculum learning and to celebrate the diversity of our school community and foods from around the world.

You must be adaptable and organised, with experience of working in a busy school kitchen.

Corley Academy has a fresh kitchen, all meals are prepared and cooked on site. From September 2024 we shall have just over 160 students on roll. Currently, the maximum number of meals provided across two sittings is 80 per day. The catering team consists of a catering manager, cook and kitchen assistant.
